Image Compressor
Make photos smaller for your website or email without uploading them anywhere.
Free. Runs in your browser: your images never leave your device.
PNG is lossless, so quality does not apply.
Open an image to see the original and compressed versions side by side.
How to use it
- Choose an image or drop it onto the box.
- Pick an output format. WebP is usually smallest for websites, JPEG works everywhere.
- Move the quality slider and compare the preview and file size.
- Download the compressed image.
Good to know
- Images are processed in your browser and never leave your device.
- Compression removes photo metadata such as camera details and location. Keep your original if you need that information.
- Transparent areas become white when saving as JPEG. Use WebP or PNG to keep transparency.
- Maximum file size is 25 MB.
Questions
What quality setting should I use?
For website photos, 70 to 80 usually looks the same as the original at a fraction of the size. Zoom into the preview to check faces, text and fine detail before you download.
Why is my compressed file bigger?
Some images are already well compressed, and PNG graphics can grow when saved as photos. The tool tells you when this happens so you can keep the original.
